Clank is a character in the game Ratchet & Clank.

Ratchet and Clank

Clank is introduced as a robot designed by robotics factory computer (his mother) to save the Solana Galaxy from Chairman Drek. After this Clank escapes from the factory in a small spacecraft. He crash lands on the planet Veldin and is later found by the Lombax mechanic, Ratchet. Ratchet agrees to go with him to Novalis a planet under attack by Drek's forces. At first the duo attempt to find the inter-galactic super hero, Captain Qwark. After they find him they find out that Qwark has sent them into a trap set by Drek to kill them. Ratchet blames Clank for their misfortune, but they are forced to stay together because the ship Ratchet has to use to escape can only be started by a robotic ignition system, and Clank is equipped with this software so they continue on their journey and Ratchet eventually for gives him and they both defeat Drek even after Clank sustains injury.

Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando

In the second game: Ratchet & Clank Going Commado or Ratchet & Clank 2 (: Locked & Loaded) in Europe. Ratchet and Clank find themselves living a famed life of intergalactic heroes. And then suddenly Abercrombie Fizzwidget, Megacorps' founder and President, teleports the two aboard a ship and tells of his offer to make Ratchet an elite commando for Megacorp and Clank the head accountant of the company. They both accept and are sent to the Bogon Galaxy. But early in the adventure Clank is kidnapped by a mysterious thief so that Ratchet will be forced to leave the Bogon Galaxy. Ratchet saves Clank after repairing him. Later the two are captured and taken to a prison run by Thugs-4-Less. A robot girl finds Clank and escorts them out of the prison. And then on the Planet Yeedil the robot girl finds Ratchet & Clank and tries to warn them of what's ahead. Then Abercrombie Fizzwidget comes in and shoots the robot girl and captures Ratchet & Clank. After that Fizzwidget takes off his disguise to show that he is the famed superhero Captain Qwark. Qwark is then eaten by the original Protopet which he accidentally mutated with Angela's Helix-O-Morph (the battery for the device was in backwards). Ratchet kills the Protopet and makes Qwark fall out of the Protopet. Ratchet sees Clank holding the dead girl robot and promises to fix her.

Up your Arsenal

In the third and most recent game, Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal (Ratchet and Clank 3 in Europe), Clank seems to have been given a job as a secret agent on "Secret Agent Clank" while Ratchet is just the butler for Clank. In this game Clank seems to get more recognition from the characters seeing as Clank is more famous. During the adventure is kidnapped by Dr. Nefarious who offers him a seat of power in the galaxy if he helps him, Clank declines the offer and is replaced by Klunk, an exact opposite of Clank except he's evil in which, at times, the eyes change from Clank's green to Klunk's red. Ratchet defeats Klunk and sets Clank free. After that, Ratchet defeats Dr. Nefarious and then Ratchet & Clank both go to the premiere of "Secret Agent Clank: The Movie".
