Clogging

Clogging is a traditional type of percussive folk dance which is common in the Appalachian Region of the United States, associated with the predecessor to bluegrass - "old time" music which is based on Irish and Scots-Irish fiddle tunes. The dance is not performed using traditional wooden clogs, but leather-soled shoes with metal taps. The rhythms are derived from Irish, Scottish, Canadian, and English step-dancing, Cherokee Indian dancing and African dance and drum rhythms.
Some forms of traditional African clogging have been absorbed into more modern clog-dancing; the jooba is one such move.
