Coat of Arms of the French Republic

From Freepedia

Image:France coa.gif The Coat of Arms of the French Republic is the symbol of the French Republic since 1953. Technically speaking, it is an emblem rather than a coat of arms, since it doesn't respect heraldical rules -- heraldry being seen as an aristocratic art, and therefore associated with the Ancien Régime.

The olive tree symbolises peace; the oak symbolises perennity. "RF" mean République Française (French Republic). The fasces is a symbol associated with justice (from ancient Rome lictor's axes, in this case not fascism).
