Dactylis glomerata (Cocksfoot Grass) is a common grass, also called orchard grass. It is widely distributed in Europe, Asia and North Africa, it grows to 50-100 cm tall, with a distinctive tufted flowerhead 10-15 cm long, and leaves 20-50 cm long and up to 1.5 cm broad.
It is used as a hay grass and for pastures because of its high yields. It is also extensively naturalized in the United States and Australia.
Dactylis glomerata suffers from the same viruses as other grasses: Leaf rust etc.
