Diane McWhorter

Diane McWhorter is an American author and commentator who has written a number of books related to civil rights and the history of civil rights. She is originally from Birmingham, Alabama and now lives in New York City. She frequently writes op-ed pieces, including regularly for USA Today. She won a Pulitzer Prize in 2002 for general non-fiction for her book Carry Me Home: Birmingham, Alabama, the Climactic Battle of the Civil Rights Revolution.
