Edinburgh University Students' Association

From Freepedia

Edinburgh University Students' Association provides services, representation and welfare support to matriculated students of the University of Edinburgh. It is commonly known by the acronym EUSA, pronounced "yew-sah".

EUSA is comprised of Edinburgh University Union (EUU), which was founded in 1889, and the Student Representative Council (SRC), founded in 1884 by Robert Fitzroy Bell.

EUSA is a member of the Coalition of Higher Education Students in Scotland (CHESS), the National Postgraduate Committee (NPC) and the Aldwych Group of student unions. In December 2004 a referendum on NUS membership was held, in which 15% of the members of the association voted 1811 to 1646 in favour to affiliate with the National Union of Students.

EUSA was instrumental in making Edinburgh Scotland's first Fairtrade University in 2003.
