In the nervous system, efferent nerves carry nerve impulses away from the brain. The motor nerves are efferent nerves involved in muscular control. Afferent nerve fibers carry information toward the central nervous system. In the peripheral nervous system, nerves are dedicated exclusively to either afferent or efferent signalling.
