Extreme Ghostbusters
From Freepedia
Extreme Ghostbusters (1997) is a more recent (but short-lived) incarnation/sequel of The Real Ghostbusters cartoon series. Extreme Ghostbusters featured a new team of younger Ghostbusters led by veteran Ghostbuster Egon Spengler and secretary Janine Melnitz. The premise was that the Ghostbusters had done their jobs too well and were forced out of business once again. The new team came together just in time to combat new supernatural threats looking for a way into our world.
The new Ghostbusters were Eduardo Rivera, Roland Jackson, Garrett Miller and Kylie Griffin. The show handled serious and mature themes as oppossed to the more childish 'Real Ghostbusters'
Everything familiar needed to be retooled design-wise as the character likenesses were owned by Columbia Pictures Television. That meant a new Ecto-1, different looks for Egon, Slimer and Janine, and all-new background layouts consistent through Sony cartoons at the time.
The theme music for Extreme Ghostbusters took a unique twist on the familiar Ray Parker Jr. theme. The new theme was basically a gritty, heavy metal inspired variation of the original Ghostbusters theme song.
Perhaps the most notable episode of Extreme Ghostbusters was the two part episode entitled "Back in the Saddle." In that episode, all of the original Ghostbusters team up with their successors for an adventure. Dave Coulier (voice of Peter Venkman), Buster Jones (voice of Winston Zeddemore), and Frank Welker (voice of Ray Stantz) reprised their roles from The Real Ghostbusters.
