False Cape Horn

False Cape Horn or Falso Cabo de Hornos is a headland lying on Hoste Island, 35 miles (56 km) northwest of Cape Horn. False Cape Horn is located at 55° 43′ 37″ S, 68° 03′ 16″ W. False Cape Horn is the southernmost point of all big islands which are located very close to the contiguous mainland of South America.
False Cape Horn is sometimes mistakenly taken for Cape Horn. If you try to find the southernmost point of the mainland of South America and have only a quick look on a map, you will have the false impression that False Cape Horn. In fact, False Cape Horn lies already on the island Hoste Island and the southernmost point of the contiguous mainland of South America is Cape Froward.
Administratively, False Cape Horn is part of the province of Magallanes y la Antártica Chilena, Chile.
