Flag of Haiti

From Freepedia

The flag of Haiti was adopted on February 25, 1986. The civil flag lacks the emblem.

The red and blue flag is said to have been first created during the country's revolution against the French; the rebels removed the white stripe from the French tricolore and used that as their flag.

From May 25 1964 to February 25 1986, during the François Duvalier dictatorship, the country had a different flag, in red and black, instead of blue, and divided vertically, not horizontally.
