Forty Signs of Rain

From Freepedia

Forty Signs of Rain (2004) is the first book in a new trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson. Unlike the majority of his previous novels it is set in the present day, though it contains several fictional world events and a fictional President of the United States of America.

The themes of Forty Signs of Rain will be familiar to any reader of Robinson's work. The focus of the novel is on scientists involved in studying global warming, the story moving quickly back and forth from one character to the next. Scientific method and the many differences between the male and female gender also come in for consideration, along with the requisite rock climbing sequence.

The second novel, to be released in the United States in October, 2005, will be titled "Fifty Degrees Below". The trilogy as a whole is being called the "Science in the Capital" series. The name of the third novel has not yet been released.
