Gambo, the last Mosasaur
Gambo, the mysterious last Mosasaur, is now a virtually forgotten enigma, although it is one of the most puzzling.Gambo's strange tale begins on the Twelth of June, 1983, when Zoologist Owen Burnham discovered an odd , slightly decomposed corpse on a small Gambian beach. The five metre monster was a lot like a Shark with the head of a Crocodile. Its massive jaws contained at least Eighty sharp serrated teeth. Its tail was long and flexable. Owen was predictably excited, but before he could study the creature more closely, he was pushed away from the corpse by a group of local teenagers who, much to the Zoologists fustration, promptly tore the beasts head off, and buried its body in the sand.
Gambo, as it has become known, has never been satisfactorily explained, but it is frustrating to think that what could have been the last Mosasaurs fate was being traded in the black market.
The only other sighting of Gambo, or more likely one of his elusive family members, was seen in World War Two ,by a crewmember on a U-Boat.After shooting a missile at an enormous incoming object, the resulting explosion sent a very strange creature six feet in the air. It resembled Gambo in most ways, apart from its four stubby feet, as opposed to Gambos flippers.
It seems that this truly is a mystery that will never be solved, or rather cant be solved, for, as the old saying goes, more is known about the surface of the moon, then is known about the bottom of the ocean. And what lurks in it, we may never know.
