George French Angas

George French Angas (1822-1886) was an English artist and naturalist. He was the son of George Fife Angas.
He travelled widely, and was secretary of the Australian Museum, Sydney, in the 1850s. He also visited South Africa in 1846.
Several taxonomic groups are named for him, mainly molluscs and other invertebrates, such as the cone shell Conus angasi, but also including the Nyala, Tragelaphus angasi.
Species for which he was the author include the Pasture Day Moth, Apina callisto.
He was the author of The Kafirs Illustrated (1849).
