Germanus I of Constantinople
From Freepedia
Germanus I was Patriarch of Constantinople (715-730).
In 730 Germanus resigned rather than subscribe to the iconoclast decree of Emperor Leo III, which he felt could not be enacted without an ecumenical council. He was replaced by an iconoclast patriarch, Anastasius, and died a few years later.
