Ghiyas ud din Tughluq Shah I was a Sultan of the Tughluq dynasty, the last of the five successive ruling parties during the Delhi Sultanate from 1206 to 1526 in Bengal.
In the historian Isami's book Futuh-us- Salatin, it is claimed that Sultan Ghiyasuddin Balban poisoned Sultan Nasiruddin Mahmud, his son-in-law, to death. This act was control of Lakhnaurti, the ancient Hindu capital of Bengal, which is is now known as Gaur, the ruined city. In 1336 a rebellion against the Tughluq leaders led to the decline of the Delhi Sultanate and the beginning of the Vijayanagara Empire.
