Grand Duke Nicholas Nicolaievich of Russia

Grand Duke Nicholas Nicolaievich (July 27, 1831 - April 13, 1891) was the third son and sixth child of Tsar Nicholas I of Russia and Charlotte of Prussia.
Trained for the military, as a Field Marshal he commanded the Russian army of the Danube in the Russo-Turkish War (1877-78).
On January 25, 1856 he married Alexandra Friederike Wilhelmine von Oldenburg (1838-1900) and they had two children:
- Nikolai Nikolayevich Romanov of Russia (1856-1929)
- Prince Peter Nocholjievic Romanov of Russia (1864-1931)
