Hanscom Field

From Freepedia

Hanscom Field (IATA: BED, ICAO: KBED) is an airport located in Bedford, Massachusetts, United States and is operated by the Massachusetts Port Authority. It is primarily a general aviation facility, though there is limited scheduled airline service operated by Boston Maine Airways, operating as Pan Am. Its two runways are shared with Hanscom Air Force Base, a research facility.

Attempts to expand airline service at Hanscom have generated intense opposition from neighboring communities who are wary of potential noise and traffic. These concerns have lessened as T. F. Green Airport in Providence, Rhode Island and Manchester, NH Airport have become viable alternatives to Logan International Airport, the region's main airport.

Ground transporation

Hanscom can be reached by car by following Route 2A west from exit 30B on I-95/Route 128. It is serviced by the MBTA's Route 76 bus from Alewife Station.
