Hietaniemi Beach (nicknamed
Hietsu) is the greatest
sand beach in Central
Helsinki. It is located in the
Töölö district, next to the
Hietaniemi Cemetery. Many people who stay in the city during the summers go there for
swimming and
sun bathing. It is especially trendy amongst the young people and serves as a place for people watching. The beach is also a popular place for playing
beach volley, and during the hot season it is often a location for special events. The beach is close to the city centre, so is very popular with locals.
