The Universitätscampus Wien houses many of the humanities departments of the University of Vienna. Situated in Vienna's 9th district, Alsergrund, a 15 minutes' walk away from the main building, the campus was opened in 1998 after Vienna's General Hospital (Allgemeines Krankenhaus), which had used the 18th century buildings up till then, had moved away to a new location.
