The Iskar (Bulgarian: Искър; Latin Oescus) is the longest river in Bulgaria, a right tributary of the Danube. It has a length of 368 km. After rising in the north slopes of the Rila Mountain, it is used to form the Iskur dam - the biggest in Bulgaria. The river runs near Sofia and passes through a gorge in the Balkan Mountains with beautiful rocky forms. It flows in the Danube near the village Gigen.
