Biography

John Ewart is an Australian Film Institute award winning actor. He was born February 26 1928 in Melbourne, Australia.

John began his acting career when he was cast at the age of four in a radio production of Snow White. At the age of 18 he made his film debut in the lead role of Charles Chauval's production of Sons of Matthew.

While John appeared in hundreds of Australian radio, theatre, film and TV productions, he was most well known for his ongoing role in the Australian TV series The Restless Years and his lead role opposite a young Nicole Kidman in Bush Christmas.

John was diagnosed with lung cancer and died at Grenwich Hospital in Sydney on March 8 1994. When doctors informed the family that John had only hours to live, he married his partner, Australian TV presenter, Jane Fennell.
