Kwara State is a state in western Nigeria. The state was originally known as West Central State when it was created in 1967, after the Northern Region was split into six states. Ilorin the state capital is the home to the University of Ilorin and the teaching hospital UITH. It originally included the region of Igala and parts of Kogi State.
