Leme

Leme is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. It is located at 22.186° S 47.39° W, and as of 2000–2001, its area is 403.1 km² 1. According to the 2000 census, it has 80,757 residents, 40,830 of whom are men and 39,927 women. 65,885 residents are 10 years old or older, and of these, 59,991, or 91.1%, are literate. 2 The estimated population as of 2004 is 87,192. These figures give a population density of 200.3/km² as of 2000 and 216.3/km² as of 2004.
Ruy de Souza Queiroz's farm in Leme has a garden, planted in 1999, where he keeps hundreds of species of Brazilian plants, some rare and some endangered.3
Leme is also the name of a district on the south side of Rio de Janeiro, next to the Copacabana.
