List of characters in Jurassic Park

(Redirected from Lewis Dodgson)
The following is a list of characters from Michael Crichton's fictional series consisting of Jurassic Park, The Lost World, and Jurassic Park III.
- John Arnold: Arnold, played by Samuel L. Jackson, ran the main control center from within the visitor's center. He was requested to turn off the power to the park and while reseting the system, was killed by a Velociraptor. In the movie he was called Ray Arnold, possibly to distinguish him from John Hammond.
- Lewis Dodgson: A Biosyn agent, played by Cameron Thor in the film of Jurassic Park. He plays a much larger role in both that book and its sequel. Lewis Dodgson is a character in Michael Crichton's best selling novels Jurassic Park and The Lost World. Dodgson's name was created from the combination of a famous Victorian author's pen name (Lewis Carroll) and his real last name (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson).
- Donald Gennaro: Gennaro, portrayed by Martin Ferrero, was the lawyer that accompanied the first group to Isla Nublar. In the film he was killed by a Tyrannosaurus Rex while hiding from it in a small park rest-room. In the novel, Gennaro survives, but is mentioned of having died of dysentery in the novel of The Lost World.
- Dr. Alan Grant: Grant, played by Sam Neill, is a key figure in the Jurassic franchise and an expert renowned in his field of Paleontology. John Hammond (Founder of InGen) convinces Grant and his coworker Dr. Ellie Sattler to take a tour of this preserve and later to endorse the park itself. In shock and amazement of discovering that InGen had successfully cloned dinosaurs, Grant quickly found out the dangers of what man could do. Mayhem struck when the dinosaurs escaped and Grant, who previously disliked children, found himself becoming the father figure and hero for Lex & Tim. He developed a better understanding, not just of children, but also of the consequences of tampering with nature. It should be noted that within the novel Grant had a strong affinity for children - particularly because of their interests in dinosaurs. It is unknown why the screenwriters decided to change this aspect of his personality for the movie.
- John Hammond: Hammond is the creator of Jurassic Park and founder of InGen. He is likened to Walt Disney and his Disneyland. He is played by Richard Attenborough. In the movie version, he appears as a sympathetic grandfather, but in the book, he is depicted as a mean-spirited CEO. In the book, Hammond is killed by compies; therefore, he does not appear in the novel The Lost World as he does in the movie version.
- Dr. Ian Malcolm: Ian Malcolm is a mathematician appearing in Jurassic Park. He specializes in the study of the chaos theory and refers to himself as a "chaotician". Jeff Goldblum played the role of Malcolm in the Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park movies. Malcolm dies in the first book, but the second book, The Lost World, claims that he was just severely injured - though reported dead by several sources. He survives the film, and was thus easily brought back for the film adaptation of The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
- Robert Muldoon: Hammond's game warden from his park in Kenya, played by Bob Peck. Muldoon was in charge of guarding the velociraptors before they escaped from their cage. The velociraptors outsmarted Muldoon and killed him while he was trying to hunt them. Muldoon survives in the novel and leaves the island at the end.
- Alexis "Lex" Murphy: Murphy is Tim's sister and John Hammond's granddaughter, and loves baseball. Ariana Richards played the role of Murphy in the movie adaption and briefly in the Lost World movie.
- Tim Murphy: Tim is Lex's brother and John Hammond's grandson. He was played by Joseph Mazzello in Jurassic Park and briefly in The Lost World.
- Dennis Nedry: Nedry worked for John Hammond and was in charge of networking Jurassic Park's computers. In reality, Nedry was a computer hacker/cracker. He uses a file called "White_rbt.obj" as a backdoor to control these systems so he could steal embryos from Jurassic Park's labs, and sell them to Lewis Dodgson. It was his fault that the original Jurassic Park failed, as he is the one who shut off the power to the electric fences, causing the dinosaurs to escape. Right before he dies, he drops the shaving cream can with the frozen embryos inside. Wayne Knight played the role of Nedry in the movie adaption.
- Dr. Ellie Sattler: She is Dr. Alan Grant's graduate student, and joined him on the tour of InGen's dinosaur preserve. Laura Dern plays Ellie in Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III.
- Henry Wu: Wu was the scientist in Jurassic Park that discussed with the group about all the dinosaurs on the island being female. Wu was played by B.D. Wong. In the novel, Wu is killed by Velociraptors.
- Ed Regis: A Public Relations manager for International Genetic Technologies (InGen) who was present during Dr. Grant's visit to the park, and acted as a tour guide. He meets a fate similar to the film version of Gennaro . He was written out of the movie, however, and certain aspects of his character were given to Donald Gennaro.
