The Star Fox series of video games from Nintendo features a number of fictional planets. Most of the planets belong to the Lylat System.

Contents

Aparoid Homeworld

The Aparoid Homeworld is a planet where the Aparoid Queen, the source of all the Aparoids, lives. At the end of Star Fox: Assault, the planet is destroyed along with the Aparoid Queen by a special Self-Destruct program created by Beltino Toad. The Aparoid Homeworld is not in the Lylat System.

Aquas

Aquas was once inhabited by a strange race of life forms unknown to Lylatian scientists. The planet was invaded, and its inhabitants drowned, by Bacoon and his legions of exploding starfish. The starfish melted the ice caps of Aquas and flooded the planet, killing its inhabitants and leaving the planet to be taken over by Bacoon. In Star Fox 64, Fox McCloud uses the Blue Marine to find and destroy Bacoon, whom Andross had turned into a bio-weapon.

Cerinia

Cerinia is the home planet of Krystal; all the planet's inhabitants, including Krystal's parents, were killed. It is not known if the planet was destroyed or its people simply wiped out, though it can be inferred that Andross had something to do with it.

Very little is known about Cerinia, other than that it is not part of the Lylat System. None of the Star Fox games to date have gone into further detail.

Corneria

Main article: Corneria

Corneria is the main planet in the Lylat System and homeworld of the Star Fox team.

Corneria is the fourth planet in the Lylat System and is known as the "Bread Basket" of the System. Corneria has many types of climates and terrains, and is mainly a farming world. Many of the people live close to the mountain ranges, where the fertile soil for farming is found. Corneria is a peaceful planet with a small defense force, and many of its starships are used for exploration and transportation. It was up to General Pepper to devise a defense force when Andross' fleet invaded the planet, and thus hired the Star Fox team to help defend Corneria.

Corneria is very similar to Earth, in that it has a blue sky, oceans, and landmasses. It is home to most of the population of the Lylat System, and is thus the main center for economy and the starting point for most of Fox McCloud's adventures.

In Star Fox: Assault, a large scale invasion by the Aparoids destroyed the capital city of Corneria.

Eladard

The planet Eladard was to be featured in the cancelled Star Fox 2 game for the SNES. It is an Industrial Center covered with numerous factories.

Fichina

Prior to Star Fox: Assault, Fichina was the Japanese name for the planet Fortuna in Star Fox 64. Star Wolf made its first appearance on this planet.

In Star Fox: Assault, Fichina is a separate planet from Fortuna and is locked in an eternal Ice Age. Cornerian scientists discovered a way to control Fichina's climate and constructed a Climate Control Center, maintained by the Corneria Defense Forces, that makes the planet inhabitable.

The Aparoids infect the climate control system and disable it with the help of Pigma Dengar. When Fox McCloud reactivates the center, the aparoid infested security system attacks him. Falco Lombardi rescues Fox from the center. Pigma then arrives and causes an Aparoid infection of a generator associated with the center. Fox destroys the newly created Aparoid Boss, saving the center from destruction.

The climate control center shenanigan actually orriginated back to the original Star Fox, in which the planet Titania would become a cold wasteland if the center was shut down.

Fortuna

Fortuna is the fifth planet in the Lylat System in the SNES Star Fox game, and is called "The dinosaur planet" (although it is unrelated to the Dinosaur Planet in the later games). It is a green planet full of many different, and giant, lifeforms. Andross' plans with Fortuna were to gain control of the creatures and use them as Bioweapons.

In Star Fox 64, due to a translation mix-up, Fichina was renamed Fortuna for the American version of the game. Fichina is the planet's name in the Japanese version, while Fortuna isn't in the game.

Fichina's name was translated correctly for Star Fox: Assault, and Fortuna is a separate planet. The Fortuna in Star Fox: Assault resembles its counterpart in the SNES Star Fox game.

Katina

Katina is a barren planet except for the Cornerian base and some strange plant life. The surface is mostly composed of brown soil.

In Star Fox 64, this mission was inspired by the last battle scene in the movie Independence Day. Everything from the design of the enemy fighters to the mothership itself bears resemblance to the film. The name "Bill Grey" is also derived from William Grey, the General in Independence Day

Bill Grey reunites with Fox on the surface of Katina. Fox's team and Bill fight off enemies and later have to fight a mothership that threatens to destroy the Cornerian base.

Katina is later revisited in Star Fox: Assault after Star Fox receives a distress signal, and Fox is forced to fight off Aparoids on the planet's surface.

Macbeth

Macbeth is the third planet in the Lylat System. It is unique in that the planet is mainly hollow, after a geological occurrence that shrunk the planet's core. Andross then used the planet as a weapons stockpile and shipyard.

In Star Fox 64, Star Fox leads an attack on Macbeth in an effort to cripple Andross's army by destroying a train carrying supplies.

Papetoon

Papetoon is only featured in the Nintendo Power Star Fox comic and thus is not considered to be an official location of the Star Fox universe. It is the location of team Star Fox's hideout, which they refer to as their "den". It is also said that Fox saved many of the lives of Papetoon inhabitance.

Sauria

Sauria, also known as Dinosaur Planet, is a planet inhabited by dinosaurs and is the setting for Star Fox Adventures. Fox comes to Dinosaur Planet to prevent it from blowing up and to save Krystal. Fox also meets Prince Tricky on Sauria.

In Star Fox: Assault, it comes under attack by the Aparoids, who kill many of the dinosaurs there that try to fight back. On this second visit to Sauria, Fox reunites with Prince Tricky, who is now an adult.

Solar

Solar is the sun of the Lylat System. It is a red dwarf star. In Star Fox 64, Andross developed a bio-weapon on the star.

The surface temperature of Solar can reach 13000 degrees, but the Arwing is only designed to handle temperatures of 9000 degrees. As a result, Star Fox's missions on Solar are treacherous, and pilots are advised not to fly at low altitudes for prolonged periods of time.

Titania

Titania is a harsh desert world. Millions of years ago, it was home to an advanced civilization known as the Goras. However, when a large meteorite struck the planet, the Goras were wiped out. The beautiful planet was transformed into the sandy wasteland and the dust ejected into space formed its rings.

In the original Star Fox, Titania is the second planet of the Lylat System. It has no indigenous creatures but its large deposits of raw materials make it the Primary Resource World for Corneria. It also has a Weather-Control Unit. If deactivated, it would cause the Titanian climate to turn into an eternal blizzard of snow. Strangely enough, Titania in the Star Fox comic is not a desert world but a frozen world instead. Possibly showing the reason why a Weather-Control Unit was needed.

In Star Fox 64, Slippy Toad crash-lands on Titania, forcing Fox, using the Landmaster tank, to save him. On the surface, he discovers that the seemingly barren planet is actually teeming with robotic lifeforms and enemy fighters. When the team finally finds Slippy, he is being held captive by Goras.

Titania also makes an appearance in Star Fox: Assault as a multiplayer stage.

Venom

Venom is Andross's base of operations in Star Fox and Star Fox 64. The planet gives off a green glow from space. In both Star Fox and Star Fox 64, Venom is the last stage the player visits.

In Star Fox, Venom is the first planet of the Lylat System and is known as the "Evergreen Planet" because it boasts flora that make its beauty second only to that of Corneria. It is also home to a race of Lizards who are technologically lacking. Prior to the events of the game, Andross discovered the ruins of a lost civilization of Venom, and learned the secrets of the ancient race that came before the Lizards. He used the new knowledge that he acquired to build a Telekinetic Amplifier, which he used to brainwash and enslave the Venomian Lizards. With the Lizards at his command, he transformed Venom into a military base and deployed his newly-drafted Venomian Army of Imperial Lizards to invade Corneria. Although they serve Andross, the Venomian Lizards inwardly hope that the forces of Corneria emerge victorioius and liberate the Lylat System.

In Star Fox 64, General Pepper sends Andross into exile on the inhospitable planet of Venom, where he then amasses a large army and launches an attack on the Lylat System. In Star Fox 64, Venom has two defense systems above it, Area 6 and Bolse; the player must clear one or the other in order to reach the planet and confront Andross.

Venom also appears as a stage in the Nintendo GameCube game Super Smash Bros. Melee. It is unclear if Venom will appear in any future Star Fox games, since it was not included in Star Fox: Assault, the most recent release.

Zoness

Zoness is a main level in Star Fox 64. It is also featured in Star Fox: Assault as a multiplayer stage.

Zoness was the beautiful aquatic vacation world of the Lylat System until Andross polluted it. The result twisted the planet's atmosphere and turned its indigenous creatures into hideous monsters. Zoness, like Aquas, is nearly covered with ocean. However, it contains some small islands on the surface.

In Star Fox 64, Andross has facilities on the planet as well as numerous spotlights to prevent any sneak attack against him. The player can, however, execute a successful sneak attack on the planet by destroying all the searchlights. If Falco accompanies the team, Katt Monroe arrives to aid Star Fox.
