Poisonous food plants
- potato (all parts contain the glycoalkaloid solanine) (though the edible part is considered very safe.)
- tomato (foliage and vines contain alkaloid poisons)
- rhubarb (leaves contain oxalic acid acid salts)
Poisonous garden plants
- privet (possibly fatal to humans, berries contain ligustrin and syringin)
- foxglove (fatal to human, contain cardiac or steroid glycosides)
- oleander (fatal to human and animals, all parts poisonous, contain nerioside, oleandroside, saponins, cardiac glycosides)
- Most lilies are poisonous, especially to cats.
