Loudoun

From Freepedia

For the county in Virginia, see Loudoun County, Virginia.

Loudoun (Lughdan in Scottish Gaelic) is an area of East Ayrshire, Scotland, near Kilmarnock. It is often referred to as the Irvine Valley. It remains to be a parish and is named after the former village which stood north of Galston.

The parish covers the burghs of Newmilns and Darvel, although the name generally refers to these towns as well as Galston and occasionally Hurlford.

The area forms the eastern part of the district of Kilmarnock and Loudoun.
