Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) are critical to the success of large manufacturing operations today. These automated systems help control processes, materials, manpower and all the other inputs required for the smooth functioning of a manufacturing unit. Such systems are expensive and involve large levels of automation, sensors, and software. The end result however, is a manufacturing system that is much more responsive to market trends, demand, and inventory levels.
