Matarranya

Matarranya (Catalan; in Spanish, Matarraña) is a Catalan-speaking comarca in eastern Aragon, bordering the Spanish Autonomous Communities of Catalonia and Valencia. Its capital is Vall-de-roures, and it borders the Aragonese comarques of Bajo Aragón-Caspe/Baix Aragó-Casp, and Bajo Aragón/Baix Aragó, the Catalan comarques of Terra Alta, Baix Ebre, and Montsià, and the Valencian comarques of Baix Maestrat and Ports.

It belongs to the Catalan-speaking strip in eastern Aragon which is variously known as the Franja d'Aragó (Strip of Aragon), Franja Oriental (Eastern Strip), or Franja de Ponent (Western Strip).
