Maximilian, Prince of Saxony

Maximilian, Prince of Saxony (13 April 1759 - 3 January 1838) was the fifth son of Frederick Christian, Elector of Saxony and Mary Antonia, Princess of Bavaria. His full name was HRH Maximilian Maria Joseph Anton Johann Baptist Johann Evangelista Ignaz Augustin Xaver Aloys Johann Nepomuk Januar Hermenegild Agnellis Paschalis Prince of Saxony.
On 9 May 1792, he married Princess Caroline of Bourbon-Parma (1770-1804), daughter of Duke Ferdinand of Parma. After widowing, he remarried, on November 7, 1825, to Princess Maria Luisa of Bourbon-Parma, a niece of his first wife.
Seven children were born from his first marriage:
- Maria Amalia (1797-1870)
- Maria Ferdinanda (1796-1865). Married Ferdinand III, Grand Duke of Tuscany.
- Frederick Augustus
- Clemens (1798-1822).
- Maria Anna (1799-1832). Married Leopold II, Grand Duke of Tuscany.
- Johann I
- Maria Josepha (1803-1829). Married King Ferdinand VII of Spain.
Maximilian renounced his right of succession on September 1st, 1830 in favour of his son.
