Minister of National Defence (Canada)

The Minister of National Defence is the Canadian politician within the Cabinet of Canada responsible for the Department of National Defence which oversees the military of Canada's Canadian Forces.

The minster used to be divided amongst the Minister of Militia and Minister of Naval Services.

The current Minister of National Defence is Bill Graham (former Minister of Foreign Affairs), and the current Associate Minister of National Defence is Mauril Bélanger.

The highest ranking officer reporting to the Minister is the Chief of Defence Staff. Although the Governor General is the Commander-in-Chief of the Canadian Armed Forces, the ultimate responsbility resides with the Minister of National Defence.
