Ministry of the Environment (Japan)

The Ministry of the Environment (環境省; Kankyō-shō) of Japan was formed in 2001 from the 1971-established Environmental Agency. The minister is a member of the Cabinet and is chosen by the Prime Minister, usually from the Diet.
As of 2004, the minister is Koike Yuriko[1].
