A temporary ban on flights within the European Union was lifted on 11 October 1999. In 2000 the first Fokker F100 aircraft was delivered. Montenegro Airlines carried its millionth passenger on July 2 2004. The same year they carried record 370,000 passengers.

The airline is hoping to start more services to/from Belgrade's Surcin Airport. They currently have flights to Zurich from Belgrade, but wish to add more. During the summer seasons, they carry charters from Belgrade Surcin Airport to tourist places such as Bodrum, Izmir, Corfu, Hurghada, Sharm el Shekih and many more.

Montenegro Airlines' only incident is when a domestic flight (Belgrade - Podgorica) had crash landed on the Posdorica Airport runway. No one was killed, the flight had earlier been delayed by some several hours and had skidded as a result of the snowy and bad weather conditions.
