Morelia is a genus of snakes in the family Pythonidae. Species included in this group include the famous Green Tree Python (Morelia viridis), the diamond python (M. spilota spilota), carpet pythons (M. spilota subspecies), the scrub python (M. amethistina), and the centralian python (M. bredli).
Snakes of the genus Morelia hail from the forests of Australia and New Guinea. In general, pythons of this group are arboreal to semi-arboreal, spending much of their life in the forest canopy. Although there are exceptions (most notably the scrub python), most snakes in this group attain adult lengths of 5–8 feet (2–3 m).
