Mousehole

From Freepedia

Mousehole (pronounced [ˈmaʊzl̩]; in Cornish Porthynys) is a fishing village near Newlyn in Cornwall, reputed to have one of the most beautiful harbours in the United Kingdom.

It is famous for its Christmas illuminations, created each year to raise money for charity. Since 1981, on December 19 each year the lights are turned off in memory of the victims of the Penlee lifeboat disaster.

Dolly Pentreath, who was arguably the last native speaker of the Cornish language is often listed as coming from Mousehole, but came from the neighbouring parish of Paul.
