The Mozambican metical (plural: meticais) is a currency used in the African nation of Mozambique. After the revaluation of the Romanian leu, the metical became the least valued currency unit, at a value of about 24500 metical per USD.

The metical has been the currency of Mozambique since 1980 and has undergone severe devaluation. It is now valued at 24,500 to the US$1.
Denominations
Coins
1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000, 5000, 10,000 meticais, with those below 50 meticais not generally in use.
Banknotes
1000, 5000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000, 100,000 meticais. Due to severe inflation, 200,000 and 500,000 meticais notes were issued in 2003.
The 5000 and 10000 metical coins were released in 2004 although no new infromation is available on the Bank of Mozambique website.
