Munich is a 2005 film directed by Steven Spielberg about the events following the 1972 Munich Massacre: a Mossad squad (lead by Eric Bana) is ordered to track down and kill the Black September terrorists responsible for the Israeli athletes murders.
The film is based on the book Vengeance:The True Story of an Israel Counterterrorist team by George Jonas.
Trivia
- A crew truck imported from Germany and laden with heavy equipment, mysteriously caught fire during shooting in Malta, sparking fears of a possible terrorist attack. Local police attributed the fire to generators overheating due to the heat of the Maltese summer.
- Ben Kingsley was attached to appear as Geoffrey Rush's character, but dropped out when filming was delayed.
- The film was originally to film in the summer of 2004 but was delayed because Spielberg was reportedly unhappy with the script.Other sources cited however that it was security concerns that delayed production.
