The Myrmeciinae is a subfamily of the Formicidae. It is a primitive subfamily consisting of only one genus Myrmecia, commonly known as the bull ant, bulldog ant or jack jumpers.
Ants in this genus tend to be much more individualistic and hunt prey alone. They also tend to have a stronger venom than most ants.
