The Universidad Nacional de Colombia (National University of Colombia) is the main university of Colombia and is a public educational institution. Several campuses across the country conform to this university system - the main campus is in Bogotá; Medellín and other cities also have campuses.

This University plans to become a real research institution; it is already one of the main educational institutions of Colombia, in terms of quality. It already supports a high percentage of the research done in Colombia - yet still well below the real demand of the country.
