Neoplasia

From Freepedia

(Redirected from Neoplasm)

Neoplasia (literally: new growth) is abnormal, disorganized growth in a tissue or organ, usually forming a distinct mass. Such a growth is called a neoplasm, also known as a tumor. The terms neoplasia and cancer are often incorrectly used interchangeably. Neoplasia refers to both benign and malignant growths, while "cancer" refers specifically to malignant neoplasia.

Neoplasia is also the name of a scientific journal for oncology research.
