No. 2 Group RAF

Number 2 Group of the Royal Air Force is one of the three groups in RAF Strike Command.
The group, formed in 2000, is referred to as the Air Combat Support Group, as it controls the aircraft used to support the front line combat aircraft. Assets under command include the air transport aircraft, the RAF Regiment and air-to-air refuelling aircraft. The group is based alongside Strike Command at RAF High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.
As of 2005, the following stations and squadrons are under the command of 2 Group.
- RAF Brize Norton 99, 101 and 216 Squadrons
- RAF Lyneham 24, 30, 47 and 70 Squadrons
- RAF Northolt 32 Squadron
- RAF Honington RAF Regiment HQ. Squadrons and Flights at various stations.
- Defence NBC Centre Winterbourne Gunner
- RAF Stafford, RAF Wittering and RAF Scampton based Air Combat Service Support Units.
History
The most previous incarnation of 2 Group was between 1st April 1993, when it was formed from the former RAF Germany, and 1st April 1996, when it's units were merged into the other groups in Strike Command.
