Palisades Park is a borough located in Bergen County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 17,073.

Geography
Palisades Park is located at 40°50'45" North, 73°59'41" West (40.845742, -73.994795)1.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 3.3 km² (1.3 mi²). 3.1 km² (1.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 4.72% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 17,073 people, 6,247 households, and 4,447 families residing in the borough. The population density is 5,447.9/km² (14,112.4/mi²). There are 6,386 housing units at an average density of 2,037.7/km² (5,278.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 48.27% White, 1.38% African American, 0.19% Native American, 41.09% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 5.80% from other races, and 3.24% from two or more races. 16.48% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 6,247 households out of which 30.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.9% are married couples living together, 10.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.8% are non-families. 22.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.73 and the average family size is 3.20.
In the borough the population is spread out with 19.4% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 37.8% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.8 males.
The median income for a household in the borough is $48,015, and the median income for a family is $54,503. Males have a median income of $37,204 versus $31,997 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $22,607. 9.7% of the population and 8.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 9.9% of those under the age of 18 and 12.1% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
Government
Federal, state and county representation
Palisades Park is part of New Jersey's 37th Legislative District and is in the Ninth Congressional District.
New Jersey's Ninth Congressional District, covering the southern portion of Bergen County and sections of Hudson County, is represented by Steve Rothman (D, Fair Lawn). New Jersey is represented in the Senate by Jon Corzine (D, Hoboken) and Frank Lautenberg (D, Cliffside Park).
The 37th legislative district of the New Jersey Legislature is represented in the State Senate by Byron Baer (D) and in the Assembly by Gordon M. Johnson (D, Englewood) and Loretta Weinberg (D, Teaneck). Baer resigned from his Senate seat on September 8, 2005 and was replaced on an interim basis by a vote of the Bergen County Democratic Committee and on the ballot for the November 2005 elections by Loretta Weinberg. Weinberg will be replaced in the Assembly by Valerie Huttle.
Bergen County's County Executive is Dennis McNerney. The executive, along with the Board of Chosen Freeholders administer all county business. Bergen County's Freeholders are Chairwoman Bernadette P. McPherson of Rutherford, Vice-Chairman David L. Ganz of Fair Lawn, Elizabeth Calabrese of Wallington, James M. Carroll of Demarest, Tomas J. Padilla of Park Ridge, Elizabeth Randall of Westwood and Valerie Vainieri Huttle of Englewood.
