Pantomime

From Freepedia

Pantomime may refer to two different types of performing arts.

  • In the UK, and in Australia, pantomime applies almost exclusively to a form of non-silent comic theatre traditionally performed at Christmas
  • Outside the UK and Australia, pantomime generally refers to the silent mime, performed by mime artists.
  • A Pantomime is also a slang expression to describe a situation where one is to go through the motions of doing something even though all concerned know it is a sham, such as haggling or pre-arranged encores in the theatre.
