Parliamentary procedure

From Freepedia

A parliamentary procedure is the individual process used for decision making by a deliberative assembly.

The term is often erroneously used to refer to the Common Law of Parliamentary Procedure and Robert's Rules of Order. Both specify parliamentary procedures but not the only ones.

Parliamentary procedures vary amongst assemblies. In jurisdictions subject to English Common Law, an assembly's parliamentary procedure is specified by the Common Law of Parliamentary Procedure plus the assembly's Rules of Order and Special Rules of Order.
