Pattani

Mueang Pattani is a city in the far south of Thailand, near the boundary to Malaysia. It is the capital of the Pattani province. The city has a population of 43,690 (2000 census), and is located at 6°50′ N 101°20′ E.
The word Pattani is derived from "Patani" in Malay which means farmer.
The local dialect of Malay is called Patani Malay or Yawi in Thai (derived from Jawi).
