Pierre Cauchon

From Freepedia

Pierre Cauchon (Reims, 1371December 18, 1442, Rouen) was bishop of Beauvais, France, and president of the ecclesiastic court that convicted Joan of Arc at Rouen in 1431.

His ferocious devotion to the English made an impartial trial unachievable. Cauchon's course of action was renounced by the church in the rehabilitation trial of Joan (1456).
