The promoter of a gene is the section of DNA that controls the initiation of RNA transcription as a product of that gene.
Promoter may also mean:
- Promoter (entertainment), the person who makes arrangements and typically deals with financial compensation for one or more parties to an event
- An accelerator of catalysis, though itself is not a catalyst
- A particular type of entrepreneur, as described in the promoter concept of Ludwig von Mises
