Province of Venice

Venice (It. Provincia di Venezia) is a province in the Veneto region of Italy. Its capital is the city of Venice.

It has an area of 2,462 sq km, and a total population of 809,586 (2001). There are 44 comuni in the province (source: Italian institute of statistics Istat, see this link).
