Wavy cap or Caramel-capped psilocybe (Psilocybe cyanescens) is a psychedelic mushroom whose main active compound is psilocybin. It belongs to the family Strophariaceae in the order Agaricales.

Appearance
Psilocybe cyanescens has a hygrophanous pileus that is fawn-brown when moist, becoming pale ochreous when drying. It bruises with a bluish or blue-green color, often still visible on dried stipe.
The mushroom grows to a height of 2-5 cm.
Habitat
Psilocybe cyanescens grows on or in the presence of woodchips and mulched plant beds (particularly under rhododendrons). In the US, P. cyanescens to the Pacific Northwest, south to northern California, and in certain parts of Europe.
Legal Status
Possession and/or cultivation of this species is illegal in a number of countries, including the United States.
