Pyramid power
From Freepedia
"Pyramid power" is a term coined by Dr. G. Patrick Flanagan in his 1973 book, Pyramid Power, to describe alleged supernatural properties of the ancient Egyptian pyramids and scale models thereof. Pyramid power is one of the several alternative theories regarding pyramids, commonly referred to as pyramidology.
The original book has long been out of print; a revised edition was published in 1997 as Pyramid Power: The Millennium Science (ISBN 0964881268).
Claims
Pyramids of these exact relative dimensions supposedly act as an electronics antennas for an unseen energy similar in concept to KI. Flanagan's claims range from enhancing the nutritional value of foods to sharpening knives by placing them under such a pyramid overnight and are generally not considered credible, even within the alternative science community.
Impact of the pyramid power theory
The book was featured on the cover and in the lyrics of The Alan Parsons Project album Pyramid, contributing to its popularity. Pyramania, a song from the album, mocked the pyramid power theory.
Pyramid power was the subject of a famous spoof by Martin Gardner in his Mathematical Games column in Scientific American June 1974, featuring his favorite characters Irving Joshua Matrix, Dr. Matrix, and Iva Matrix.
Despite much criticism and disbelief, some individuals claim to have successfully replicated some of the pyramid power experiments. One such person is Volodymyr Krasnoholovets. A razor blade placed in a "resonator" was seen to become smoother and less angular over time.
Similar claims were made, in the 1980s, by Birmingham researcher Roger Payton concerning the psychic powers of dredger buckets
Pyramid power was the subject of one of the tests in the second Mythbusters seasion, and was subsequently busted in a battery of tests. Ironically, a similar test with 'cube power' (using the same tests with a cube structure built and positioned similarly as the pyramids tested) showed that 'cube power' is actually WORSE for protecting fruit than the other two tests.
